On the eve of the May holidays in the outdoor enclosure near the Great Pond released red and pink flamingos, the press service of the zoo.

All winter, the birds were held indoors, so now they are sincerely happy about the opportunity to take a walk in the fresh air and how to warm up and spread their wings in the open space. In addition, along with the “move” to the outdoor aviary, the feathers began a period of courtship, so that visitors can admire the flamingo in all its glory, and also listen to their marriage “calls” that are distinguished by their sound richness.

Now at the exposition you can see more than 30 red, or Cuban flamingos and 13 pink. Birds differ not only in color and intensity of coloring of plumage, but also in size: pink flamingos are somewhat larger than red ones.

Pink and red flamingos live well together in the zoo, but in the future it is planned to transfer pink flamingos to the exposition near the Small Pond. In nature, the habitats of these birds do not overlap.
