In long-term relationships, men and women do this in different ways.
Research Kirsten Dobson at the University of Western Ontario showed that men underestimate the interest of their wives in sex, and women, on the contrary, overestimate, according to Research Digest. Dobson studied the behavior of 120 couples aged 18 to 51 who spent more than three months together. Curiously, in casual relationships, an inverse correlation is visible: men tend to overestimate the interest in their partner’s sex.
Evolutionary psychologists explain this phenomenon by the fact that for men is more important to recognize the sexual interest of casual partner than constant. And the refusal in the first case will be less painful than rejection by the wife. They also note that the available data are insufficient for unambiguous conclusions and new research is required.
