In 2009, Elton John (71) came to a specialized orphanage for HIV-infected children in the Donetsk region. There he saw a little Leo, who was just over a year old, and wanted to adopt him, but the Ukrainian authorities turned him down. Reason: the age of Elton (he was already 61 years old) and his unconventional sexual orientation.
John left, but promised to help the baby. Therefore, when the conflict began in Ukraine, the boy’s grandmother turned to the musician. And Elton helped them to move to Lviv. It’s been 9 years since the musician and his husband David Furnish came to Ukraine – he was invited by the “Antispid” foundation and met with Leo.
